Huge Dangerous Ice Flow in Delaware Bay

Dear Friends,

It is 4 degrees above zero in the Delaware River for several weeks causing a huge and dangerous ice flow inhibiting commercial traffic to Philadelphia.

The Delaware River Pilots who have a dangerous job anyway are up against a situation that has not happened for several years. Most of the aids to navigation are gone, the boarding Jacob Ladders (sometimes 50 feet high) are slick ice, and the pilots have had to hire steel hauled tug boats at $10,000 per day to break the ice so the pilots can board and disembark.

Yours truly did this for many years.

Similar situations are happening to the Norfolk Pilots as well.

On a personal note, my health is improving, after some serious breathing problems.

Respectfully Submitted,
